Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol that helps prevents cavities. You may recognize other sugar alcohols used in sugarless products, such as mannitol and sorbitol. Xylitol is the sugar alcohol that shows the greatest promise for cavity prevention. It is equal in sweetness and volume to sugar and the granular form can be used in many of the ways that sugar is used, including to sweeten cereals and hot beverages and for baking (except when sugar is needed for yeast to rise).
Xylitol has been approved for safety by a number of agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization’s Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives, and the European Union’s Scientific Committee for Food.
Xylitol has been shown to have decay-preventive qualities, especially for people at moderate to high risk for decay, when used as part of an overall strategy for decay reduction that also includes a healthy diet and good home care.

In order to satisfy different application areas, Healtang has the ability to produce three different types of Xylitol :
1. Crystalline xylitol – It is the most common and widely used form of xylitol. It is suitable for all common food and cosmetic applications to be applied as such or dissolved during the production process depending on the product and desired end result. Examples of products in which crystalline xylitol may be used: chewing gum, confectionery, ice cream, personal care products such as shampoo, toothpaste, and moisturizing face creams and body lotions.
2. Milled xylitol – This fine xylitol powder can be used in the production of foods and cosmetics particularly when there is a need to avoid dissolving the xylitol in the production process. Examples of products in which milled xylitol may be used: chewing gum, fine chocolate, baking mixes, personal care products such as dry shampoo, and dry mixes for face and body masks.
3. Granulated xylitol – It is conveniently directly compressible xylitol grade, which can be applied as such for compressing into pastilles and tablets. Examples of products in which granulated xylitol may be used: are pastilles, mints, tablets and nutraceuticals.
